I wanted a videographer right from the start. I love videos and, whilst photographs will be the primary way we remember our wedding, a video would give us the chance to see things that we missed, and we’d be able to re-live the day that went by so fast.
Now, I listen to my parents a LOT. No amount of peer pressure could get me to smoke when I was a teenager because there was no way on earth that I would have done something my parents wouldn’t have approved of. I know I’m now an adult and I can do what I want, but I do still listen to them and take their advice on board.
The most rebellious thing I think I’ve ever done was get a cat when my mum wasn’t 100% supportive of the idea. And I don’t know what I’d do without my kitty now, so clearly sometimes it works if I just do what I want!
Anyway, my parents had a videographer at their wedding back in 1984. They were brand new back then and quite the novelty! However, because it was such a new thing to do, mistakes were bound to happen and the tape (!!) ran out during the ceremony.
To make up for it, the videographer agreed to film their entire reception and said he’d take extra shots of them before the meal. My parents’ video has footage of them walking down the main road outside their reception venue, with lorries driving past and beeping their horns. Probably not the best thing to happen on your wedding day, but it really did make us laugh when we watched it on their 25th wedding anniversary a few years ago.
They only watched that video twice. Once when they got it, and again 25 years later. And it is for this reason that my mum thinks that a videographer is a waste of money.
I hate to be the one to tell you, mum, but technology has changed quite a bit in the last 29 years!
I don’t need to keep watching a feature-film-length version of my wedding video each and every time I fancy playing it. I also don’t need to get out the tape, set up the TV, and rewind it back to the beginning. I can watch a five-minute clip on my laptop or iPad! This is the 21st century, and I have a feeling I’ll watch that video more than twice.
They are on holiday in Spain at the moment, so I’ve gone and booked it. Every act of rebellion I’ve done has been whilst they’re in Spain. You’d think the 300-mile distance between us when they are at home is enough, but when they’re in another country I get the confidence to “go wild.” I got my tongue pierced when they were in Spain once. That was fun when they got home. 
So yes, the videographer.
I have been doing my research for months and one stood out more than the rest. The Wedding Catchers were everything I had imagined and more. Their videos were professional, their editing was excellent and humorous, and they suited our style perfectly. They seemed to capture the fun of the weddings they shot and they were just what I was looking for.
I enquired by email and spoke to Jo the very next day. We had a quick chat, discussed what kind of thing I was after, and instantly I knew they were “the ones.” Hired.

Even if I did only watch this in 25 years, being able to see that kind of happiness from my family and friends would make this video absolutely priceless.
